The curriculum offered at RLHS follows the ‘NZ Curriculum Framework
Guidelines’ in the provision of a broad and balanced range of subjects
catering for both academic and non academic students.
Students
follow a broad programme in Years nine and ten with some choice available at
this level.
At year 11, English, Mathematics and Science are compulsory with students
choosing three other subjects.
At year 12 English is compulsory with a course in Mathematics strongly
recommended. Students choose four other subjects.
Years
11 and 12
lead to NCEA Level one and two respectively.
Whilst a wide range of subjects are offered limitations may result from
student’s own subject selection, numbers opting for particular subjects and
staffing availability.
Students
at all levels are encouraged to participate in a variety of subject related
competitions and quizzes (eg. Australasian subject competitions)
Learning
support is offered for those students who would benefit from this and a
comprehensive ESOL programme is available.
Students are encouraged to consult with people such as Deans, House Tutors,
Heads of Departments, Careers Adviser when making subject choices.
Please follow the link to access subject choices for next year.
